July 4th Awesomeness
A sample of what made July 4th so awesome this year.
Took some friends out sailing on the J34. With decent winds, we did a lap around the south water crib. Then, on the way back we hit a lull and decided to anchor the boat and go in for a dip. It was pretty refreshing! Then we realized we were running short on time, so hit got back in the boat and started sailing back to the harbor as the winds picked up significantly. Though it was a west wind and we had to tack back and forth, we were cruising at a good click with the keeled over on its side.
Once we got back to the harbor, we grabbed our grills and food and found a nice spot right on the water where we setup for BBQ'ing and slacklining. After eating, we quickly realized that we could still swim in the lake despite the no swimming signs. Pretty much everyone was doing since it was a holiday. People had a great time jumping in the frigid water. With some shade, breeze and swimming, the 100 degree temps didn't seem all that bad.
More photos to come (when I get around to it), but here's a sampling.
