Refreshing my avalanche skills with Eli Helmuth in Rocky Mountain National Park. Day 1 - went to Hidden Valley, tested the snowpack for cohesion and reactivity, dug a huge pit to study the snow layers, did compression tests, beacon rescue and skied some pow! Day 2 - Ski toured in the park to an avalanche debris site at the base of the hour glass couloir on Otis Peak, did some beacon rescue practice in actual avalanche debris, saw some amazing views at Lake Haiyaha and skied some pow!
